After reading our main ProPhoto Safari page many of you are asking yourselves why does Ultimate Africa have a trip planned to Tanzania? The answer is that for the time of year Tanzania is superb and offers incredible scenery and wildlife... In the company of professional photographer's Ron Lucas and Dave Christensen (also a professionally licensed Zimbabwe guide and past guide examiner - Dave is beyond awesome!) you will explore the wilderness and wildlife spectacle that is northern Tanzania. There will be a  limit of 3 photographers per vehicle plus a professional photographer and driver / guide (many photo safaris have 6 or more photographers in one vehicle which is absolutely unacceptable if you are serious about photography). In addition Ultimate Africa’s 55 pound luggage limit will allow you to bring all the gear you desire (most safaris limit you to 26 lbs. of luggage).

Visit: Arusha, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti

Highlights: all inclusive, exclusive tented camps and lodges, transfers by road and air with 55 pound luggage limit (twice what most safaris offer), services of professional photographer Ron Lucas and professional Zimbabwean photographer and guide Dave Christensen, private wildlife viewing from two 4x4 vehicles with a maximum of 3 guests + professional photographer + and driver / guide per vehicle, excellent wildlife and birding

Full itinerary and trip details below:

MARCH 3 ARUSHA Upon arrival at the Kilimanjaro Airport you will be met and transferred to Rivertrees for 1 night. This old farmhouse offers a comfortable bed and breakfast accommodations, a lounge with a fireplace for relaxing / dining and a swimming pool. Fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs come from the Rivertrees garden. An ideal place to relax. ARUSHA, River Trees, dinner bed and breakfast

MARCH 4 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK After breakfast you will be transferred by road to Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park supports a wide variety of wildlife due to its diverse habitats. If you are lucky you may see the Manyara lions, well known for their tree climbing habits. The Park is also home to sizable populations of elephant, hippo, giraffe, and buffalo. Activities include wildlife viewing drives within the park. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the park. You will overnight at Gibb's Farm. Gibb's Farm is an oasis of green, calm and beauty, in a landscape that can often be parched, dry and dusty. The lodge offers 20 twin rooms with ensuite bathrooms set amongst gardens. The main facilities, consisting of a sitting room, reading room, dining room (which serves fresh, home-cooked meals), bar and gift shop, are situated in an old farmhouse. Coffee is grown, processed and roasted on the farm and a vast ten-acre fruit and organic vegetable garden provides nearly all the fruit and vegetables to the guests, who wake up to fresh coffee, a multitude of flowers and breathtaking views. LAKE MANYARA, Gibb's Farm, dinner bed and breakfast

MARCH 5 NGORONGORO CRATER After breakfast you will transfer by road to the Ngorongoro Serena arriving in time for lunch. The Ngorongoro Crater contains a hidden world teeming with wildlife. This afternoon you will descend from the lush rain forest on the rim to the savanna bush and acacia woodland of the crater floor for an afternoon of wildlife viewing. You are very likely to see black maned lion, the highly endangered black rhino, wildebeest, zebra, elephant, hippo, jackal, and hyena. Late this evening you will drive back up to the crater rim for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. NGORONGORO CRATER, Crater Serena Lodge, all inclusive

MARCH 6 NGORONGORO CRATER Constructed from local stone and covered with indigenous plants, the Ngorongoro Serena has been built into the northern crater rim. There are 75 rooms offering dazzling views of the crater floor 500 meters below. After an early breakfast you will descend into the crater for a full day of wildlife viewing (with a picnic lunch). NGORONGORO CRATER, Crater Serena Lodge, all inclusive

MARCH 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK After breakfast on March 7 you will depart by road to Ndutu Safari Lodge. The Serengeti is arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. At certain times of the year these vast, seemingly unending, plains are inhabited by enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra. In the calving season (February-March) the herds concentrate at the Ndutu and Salei plains attracting the attention of predators like lion, cheetah and hyena. You will spend five all inclusive nights at Ndutu Safari Lodge. Situated near the border of the Serengeti in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Ndutu offers simple and comfortable accommodations - great during the migration in the early months of the year. Activities include wildlife viewing drives in the Serengeti. The lodge also has a pool. SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, Ndutu Safari Lodge, all inclusive

MARCH 12 EN ROUTE After breakfast you will be transferred to the nearby airstrip in time to board your scheduled flight (included) to Arusha. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport in time to board your onward flight.
