From the hippo filled waters of the Okavango delta to Savuti's open savannas teeming with wildlife Botswana captures the very essence of the African experience. Set in the land of Africa’s original inhabitants this safari traverses vast tracts of untouched and inspiring wilderness. At the end of your journey, not unlike Livingstone over one hundred years ago, you will stand in awe before the spectacle that is Victoria Falls, the smoke that thunders. This is truly one of Africa’s premier wildlife adventures.

Run by Wilderness Safaris this is their highest quality cross country camping safari in Botswana. It was featured in the November 1995 National Geographic Traveler. Accommodations vary from small permanent tented camps to pre-erected tented camps, all with private or en suite facilities. Many nights are spent in private concessions far from others in superb game country. Light aircraft transfers (included) between camps minimize long drives over rough terrain and allow for maximum time in the best wildlife viewing regions. Enjoy Africa’s leading wildlife and wilderness areas in the company of a professional guide and host on this exceptional tented safari.

Full itinerary and trip details below:

DAYS 1, 2, 3 MOREMI AND THE CENTRAL OKAVANGO DELTA After arrival in Maun you will be met by your guide or representative and flown by charter aircraft (included) into the heart of the Okavango. Your nights will be spent at Kaparota Camp. Kaparota Camp is situated on a tranquil shaded island in the Vumbura Community Development Concession. The island is covered with huge sausage trees, and a small channel runs in front of the camp. The thatched dining and pub area is connected to the opposite island by a walkway bridge, and is raised on a teak deck overlooking the channel. Guests are accommodated in five meru-style tents built on raised decking with wonderful views over the surrounding islands and floodplains. Each room has proper beds and en suite facilities including a hot and cold shower and flush toilet. Kaparota offers land and water based activities including day and night wildlife viewing drives, professionally guided walks (at the camp manager's discretion), mekoro (canoe) excursions and boating. Wildlife in the area includes lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and red lechwe. Birding in the area is incredible and species include white headed vulture, African hawk eagle, Roufusnaped lark, Meyers parrot, and Pels fishing owl. MOREMI AND THE CENTRAL OKAVANGO DELTA, Kaparota Camp, all inclusive

DAYS 4, 5 OKAVANGO DELTA Today the group is flown further into the Okavango Delta by light aircraft (included) to the secluded Jacana Camp where you will stay for two nights. Situated about 25 kilometers west of Mombo, outside the Moremi Game reserve on the Jao flats. Guests are accommodated in five small meru-style tents. Each tent is built on a wooden deck overlooking the floodplains and has proper beds and an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and hot and cold shower. The main dining area has been built on an elevated wooden deck between two magnificent sycamore fig trees and is surrounded by dense wild date palms. Downstairs, there is a cozy pub and lounge where guests may enjoy sitting around an evening fire under the stars.

Jacana Camp offers guests an incredible Okavango Delta water experience! Activities include mekoro (canoe) excursions and professionally guided walking safaris all year round. As the floodwaters recede day and night wildlife viewing drives may be enjoyed in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers (typically September through May). The camp is set in one of the most densely populated wetland areas for sitatunga and red lechwe. Wildlife concentrations depend on the flow of the water. All the big game can be found in the area - elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, however in limited numbers. Pels fishing owl is a favorite amongst birders as well as greater and lesser jacanas. OKAVANGO DELTA, Jacana Camp, all inclusive

DAYS 6, 7 SAVUTI / LINYANTI The group will depart the Okavango Delta and transfer by light aircraft (included) to Linyanti Tented Camp. Situated in a 125,000 hectare private concession, this luxury tented camp offers an exclusive and highly personalized experience as it caters to only 8 guests in 4 large walk in tents. Each tent has en suite facilities. As the camp is situated outside of the Chobe National Park activities are not limited by parks regulations. Activities here include day and night wildlife viewing drives in open sided 4x4 vehicles, canoeing, boating and walks in an area offering excellent game experiences. Wildlife here includes all of Botswana’s big game species and is one of the best areas in the country to see predators. SAVUTI / LINYANTI, Linyanti Tented Camp, all inclusive

DAYS 8, 9 CHOBE NATIONAL PARK From the Savuti / Linyanti area the safari moves north by light aircraft (included) to the banks of the Chobe River where your exclusive camp has been set up in a private site along or near the banks of the Chobe River. On the Chobe flood plains elephants can be seen in numbers not found elsewhere on the continent while waterbirds such as egrets, herons, ducks and storks occur in profusion. CHOBE NATIONAL PARK, Chobe Camp, all inclusive

DAY 10 VICTORIA FALLS It is a leisurely drive from the Chobe River to the famous Victoria Falls. The group will arrive in town around midday and the rest of the afternoon will be at your leisure to explore the rainforests alongside the Falls (Victoria Falls entry not included), or take an optional sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Guests wanting to enjoy whitewater rafting will have to spend an additional night at Victoria Falls. VICTORIA FALLS, Victoria Falls Hotel, bed and breakfast

DAY 11 END OF SAFARI The safari ends after breakfast and includes a transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
