Kuteya Introduction Africa - a land of open savannas and thick bush, where buffalo and elephant herds teem, where the stealthy leopard coughs near camp at night. This great land is also home to the worlds ultimate fresh water fighting fish - the TIGERFISH - and some of the world's ultimate fishing adventures. Kuteya Tiger Camp offers fantastic sport fishing in an uninhabited remote wilderness area. Situated on Lake Kariba's southern shore "BIG KARIBA TIGER best describes this small fishing camp. Set FAR from the overfished eastern basin, Kuteya offers Kariba fishing as it was twenty years ago! YES - BIG FISH reminiscent of Karibas golden days! Limited to 8 guests in 4 thatched en suite chalets, Barry Armstrong and Jim the fish pull out all the stops to ensure you get the most bang for your fishing buck at Kuteya! Kuteyas largest tiger, a 24 pounder, was caught trolling an 8 Rapala minutes from camp in the bay. The average trophy tiger in 1997 was 12 pounds with the average catch during the rains (mid-December through March) being 7 pounds. Besides great tiger there are plenty of bream, chessa, nkupe, barbel, Cornish jack, and bottlenose!
Fishing is best September through March. On Ultimate Africas last visit in November, 1997 we hooked into plenty powerful tiger, most screaming off and throwing the lure. No gentle strikes - just bone jarring ones! In addition to incredible fishing, superb wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities exist throughout Africa.
