Wildebeest Migration Update!
February 2000

It has been hot and sunny in the Serengeti with sporadic rains over various areas around Ndutu causing the herds of zebra and wildebeest to move almost daily. As of last week there were good numbers of wildebeest near Ndutu Lodge, but as of yet they have not moved further south towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area, nor are there any large concentrations, but rather scattered smaller herds. We've had reports of several newborn calves being seen. Great excitement.

Admittedly most of the action is in the Serengeti these days where clients are continuing to get phenomenal exposure to the predators with 11 cheetah seen within a few days, 5 leopards recorded by another group and one pride of lions numbering twenty observed.

Another exciting event occurred at Simba Kopjes when a cheetah climbed on the rear mounted spare tires of the vehicle to get a better vantage point and as a result successfully made a kill of a gazelle!
