Wildebeest Migration
Update! Early July saw the wildebeest in the Seronera area of the central Serengeti. The dominant wildebeest have started westwards and as expected the main herds have followed. They moved towards the Datwa Plains filling up the area near Hembe grasslands. As July progressed the wildebeest moved further west to the area popularly known as the Western Corridor. One group of travelers camping in the area at the time did not have to do a game drive one day as their campsite was flooded by countless wildebeest and zebra! The full day was spent in the camp taking photographs from all angles. One could hardly see the surrounding bush as the wildebeest grazed undisturbed. From the Western corridor, the wildebeest normally move northwards to Kenya's Masai Mara. However, this year they seem inclined to move back eastwards. If this happens they might not go to the Mara at all! By the end of August we should know. In Tarangire elephant, impala, lion, buffalo and other animals are abundant and easily seen.
