Wildebeest Migration
Update! The Wildebeest Migration has finally arrived in the Mara - about three weeks late. The zebra that precede the wildebeest have been in the Mara for about a month with large herds crossing and re-crossing the Mara River. About 40,000 wildebeest are now on the western side of the Talek River and can be seen easily from Rekero Tented Camp. The main migration is still crossing the Sand River which divides the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania with the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. The large Nile crocodiles in the Mara and Talek rivers are stirring and seem to be much more active. Some ancient telepathy must tell them that the time of plenty is near.
