Mombo Trails Camp and the Reconstruction of Mombo Camp – Update

The Botswana government has finalized the Mombo lease and given Wilderness Safaris permission to start rebuilding both Mombo and Little Mombo camps.

Here is the latest:

Mombo Trails Camp will open late April 2017 whilst Mombo and Little Mombo will close for rebuilding. The new Mombo Trails Camp will be located two kilometers north-west of the site of the current Mombo / Little Mombo site (being de-constructed), overlooking the very same productive floodplain – in short guests will have a front-row seat to arguably Africa’s best wildlife viewing!

Each of the 8 tented rooms at Mombo Trails Camp will be luxuriously furnished. Each tented room will have a bedroom area, a lounge, and an en-suite bathroom with double vanities and shower. Water is heated using Thermodynamic Solar Panels. The photo below is a computer rendering of what the rooms are expected to look like when finished:

The Mombo Trails Camp main area will include a dining area, bar and lounge – all shaded by a grove of massive jackalberry trees. A campfire area will allow guests gather to talk over the day’s sightings, where they can kick off their shoes, dig their feet into the Delta sand and get in touch with nature.

The main areas and tents all face the floodplain and will be raised slightly on wooden decks, so as to take full advantage of the view that is quintessential Mombo.

We expect the newly constructed Mombo Main Camp and Little Mombo Camp to reopen in early 2018.
