Full itinerary and trip details below: DAY 1 VICTORIA FALLS Upon arrival at the Victoria Falls Airport you will be met and transferred to the Ilala Lodge. The day is at leisure and you may enjoy a tour of the world largest waterfall. In the evening you will attend a pre trip briefing. VICTORIA FALLS, Ilala Lodge, bed and breakfast DAYS 2, 3 HWANGE NATIONAL PARK On day 2 the group will travel south by road to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's largest wildlife sanctuary. Here time is spent on a private concession within the park on wildlife viewing drives in open 4x4 vehicles and on professionally guided walks. In addition to over 30,000 elephant, Hwange National Park is home to healthy populations of buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and antelope species such as the sable and kudu. HWANGE NATIONAL PARK, Makalolo Bush Camp, all inclusive DAYS 4, 5 MATUSADONA NATIONAL PARK The group will continue by light aircraft (included) to Matusadona National Park, situated on the southern shore of Lake Kariba. Time is spent on wildlife viewing drives and professionally guided walks in search of Africa's Big Five wildlife species - black rhino, lion (second highest density in Africa), buffalo, elephant, and leopard along with hippo, and numerous antelope species. Birding is excellent with African fish eagle, goliath heron and saddlebilled stork being common. Spectacular sunsets over the lake are a highlight. MATUSADONA NATIONAL PARK, camping, all inclusive DAY 6 MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK Today you will be transferred by boat to Kariba and by light aircraft (included) to Mana Pools for the start of your lower Zambezi River canoe safari. Here you will meet your canoe guide. Mana Pools National Park is a wildlife enthusiasts paradise. Wild and remote, the area abounds with elephant, lion, hyena, buffalo, hippo and numerous species of antelope. If you are lucky you may photograph an elusive leopard or a pack of rare painted hunting dogs. The afternoon will be spent canoeing to your first camp. Camps consist of large walk in tents with cots and duvets. Each camp will have a hot bush shower and bush toilet. Meals at camp are of a very high standard. Food is freshly prepared in camp. Evening snacks and drinks are provided as well as cordials and red and white wine with dinner. MANA POOLS, Vundu Camp, all inclusive DAY 7 MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK You will awake this morning and enjoy a bushwalk within the national park. You will then return to camp for breakfast and spend the rest of the morning leisurely canoeing. Lunch will be enjoyed on an island in the river and you will rest through the heat of the day. The afternoon is spent canoeing to your next camp with occasional stops (or walks). MANA POOLS, Chessa Camp, all inclusive DAY 8 MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK This morning you may enjoy a wildlife viewing walk before canoeing. In the afternoon you will reach Chitembe Camp. MANA POOLS, Chitembe Camp, all inclusive DAY 9 MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK The canoe safari ends after breakfast. The remainder of the day will be spent at Chikwenya Camp. Chikwenya offers an unparalleled remote African wildlife and wilderness experience. Activities include professionally guided wildlife viewing walks, wildlife viewing drives in open 4x4 vehicles and boating or canoe excursions. Fishing for Africa's infamous tiger fish also proves exciting. Guests are accommodated in 8 large walk in tented rooms raised on wooden walkways with en suite shower and toilet. When to travel: Wildlife viewing is best during the period April through October each year. Departures: Guaranteed departure with a minimum of 2 passengers. May 12 to May 21, 2004 Accommodations: Accommodation is in pre-erected tented camps (walk in tents). Beds and linen are supplied (camp cots while canoeing). The camp assistants take care of all chores and erect camps prior to your arrival. All meals are prepared for you by our staff our lodge staff, and taken in a dining room or dining tent which is furnished with tables and chairs. There are private facilities everywhere excepting while canoeing where facilities are shared. There are proper showers at all camp sites. Vehicles are open 4 wheel drive Land Rovers. Age limits: The minimum age on this safari is 12. The maximum age limit is 70 however this can be waived in some cases. Group size: The maximum group size is 8 guests. Guides: You will enjoy some of Africas most remote wilderness areas in the company of Africas top professional and learner guides. You will be accompanied by a guide, a hostess/caterer and several camp assistants. Luggage: As small aircraft may be used for transfers between locations and camps baggage is strictly limited to 12 kilograms (26 pounds) packed in one soft sided bag per person.
