Controversy Surrounds Filming Controversy continued to surround the filming of Survivor III at Kenya's Shaba National Reserve. Stakeholders are demanding more details about the film, environmental degradation and the contract signed with the Isiolo County Council. Council officials, Waso Trust Land Project (WTP) and Mwandiga Production, a Nairobi firm sub-contracted by CBS, held a crisis meeting to resolve the mystery surrounding environmental degradation at the park. Isiolo County Clerk, Mr. Addan Racho, chairman, Mr. Hussein Ali Abduba and Mwandiga Production Manager, Mr. Robin Hollister declined to speak to the press. WTP co-ordinator, Mr. Hassan Guyo Shano, who attended the meeting said there was a sharp rift between the council and the sub-contractors regarding the agreement. Shano said Hollister declined to reveal details of the agreement because the council wanted it to remain a secret. Sources said the council was paid more money than the 18 million shillings (US $230,000) announced by Abduba. In another meeting between Mwandiga production and politicians, Isiolo North MP, Mr Guyo Mokku, asked the CBS officials to state the amount the council will be paid. Meanwhile, Shano said he will move to the court to block the shooting of the television series. The series will be shot between July 1 and September 30. He said the 18 million shillings (US $230,000) the council will get is not enough to compensate for the damage caused to the Shaba ecosystem. The activist said it is now difficult for tour guides to find even zebras at the park because most wild animals have been scared away. He appealed to the Green Belt Co-ordinator, Professor Wangari Maathai, for assistance. He said the matter is not purely an Isiolo affair. Survivor III / Ultimate Africa Safaris
