The Latest – Great Plains Will Build 3 Camps in Zimbabwe

So the folks from Great Plains Conservation stopped by the office this Friday and we got some more details on their 2018 plans to expand into Zimbabwe!

Great Plains has secured land in the Sapi area east of Mana Pools and will be building 2 camps similar in style to Duba Expedition / Selinda Explorers… one camp will be on the Lower Zambezi River and the other will be inland.

In addition Great Plains will be building a luxury camp 20 minutes from Victoria Falls in the Zambezi National Park. This should be on the same level of luxury as Zarafa Camp. This new property will provide some stiff competition for AndBeyond’s Matetsi Lodge which was just rebuilt. Matetsi is in the same area but a further 20 minutes away from the Falls…

None of the 3 camps have names as of yet but they are expected to open sometime from June 2018 onwards!

We are big fans of the Joubert’s and Great Plains property’s in both Kenya and Botswana. Each and every year they improve… from recently spearheading the relocations of rhino to Botswana, to setting up special photographic safaris, to introducing the most luxurious aircraft for getting around in Botswana. Need I mention all the wildlife documentaries the Joubert’s have done! These guys are about as legit as you can get. From back in the old days when it was the simply built Duba Plains and Selinda Camp all visits have been magical for ourselves and the numerous guests we have sent their way.

Best wishes from all of us at Ultimate Africa Safaris for success in Zimbabwe – you deserve it!
