Ultimate Tailormade Trip Collection Each of our clients is unique and has special interests. Whether you wish to celebrate an anniversary at a specific location in Africa or enjoy the convenience of a private aircraft and the company of a specialist professional guide we love preparing customized itineraries. With our extensive hands on travel experience in Africa this seemingly complex task is made easy. Many of the safaris featured on our website can be modified to depart on specific days of the week or to include different accommodations and activities, usually at little or no extra cost. Whether wine or digital photography, hiking or elephant riding - please don't hesitate to inquire.
IMPORTANT: Most of the safari lodges and camps we recommend are small, exclusive and dearly sought after. To ensure availability we suggest planning and booking your travel arrangements at least 12 months in advance.
Here are three itineraries we customized for past client’s to give you a sense of what is possible:
Trip Name: “Tailor-Made #1” 15 Days, October 2006, US $7,825 per person x 4 Designed for two very active couples with a passion for food, wine and wildlife who wanted to travel to southern Africa during October. This is when Cape Town enjoys incredible spring / summer weather however temperatures on safari in Botswana and at Victoria Falls can easily exceed 100 degrees. We therefore used Orient Express properties in Botswana as these are the only safari properties with air conditioning. If the clients had more flexibility with travel dates we would have suggested postponing the trip until May the following year so they could enjoy the Cape Wine and Gourmet Festival, temperatures on safari would be more moderate and Victoria Falls would be more impressive water wise. Countries Visited: South Africa, Botswana, and Zambia Highlights: private full day Cape Peninsula tour with penguin viewing kayak trip and lunch, morning Table Mountain hike (hike up the mountain / cable car down), full day Cape Winelands cycling tour with tastings and lunch, day and night wildlife viewing drives in open vehicles, private bush dinner, walks, boat and mekoro (canoe) excursions, morning elephant back safari, river rafting and self guided Victoria Falls tour Trip Outline: DAYS 1, 2, 3 CAPE WINELANDS, Constantia Uitsig, bed and breakfast (incredible food / wine destination yet close to Cape Town for activities such as Table Mountain, kayaking to view penguins, and the Cape Peninsula) DAYS 4, 5 CAPE WINELANDS, Le Quartier Francais, bed and breakfast (incredible food / wine destination and beautiful area for a cycling tour) DAYS 6, 7 OKAVANGO DELTA, Eagle Island Camp, all inclusive (great water activities and air conditioned tented rooms) DAYS 8, 9 MOREMI, Khwai River Lodge, all inclusive (superb wildlife and air conditioned tented rooms) DAYS 10, 11 SAVUTE / LINYANTI, Savute Elephant Camp, all inclusive (superb wildlife and air conditioned tented rooms) DAYS 12, 13, 14 VICTORIA FALLS, Royal Livingstone, bed and breakfast (location allows for self tour of Falls, air conditioned rooms, cost savings over smaller, more exclusive properties) DAY 15 EN ROUTE, transfer to Livingstone Airport
Trip Name: “Tailor-Made #2” 15 Days, July 2006, US $9,925 per person x 2 Designed for a husband and wife with somewhat different interests and good budget – they wanted quality more so than luxury. He was a serious photographer (who would be traveling with over 30 pounds of camera gear) while she was more interested in general wildlife viewing and relaxation. They both wanted to scuba dive in Africa. We used Wilderness Safaris in Botswana as they allow 44 pounds of luggage per person – one of only two tour operators to do so. All other tour operators in east and southern limit guests to 26 pounds of luggage per person. We focused on wildlife viewing drives as walks / canoeing are not good for photography or relaxation. As a couple the expense and isolation of a completely private safari was not appealing so we arranged 3 days with a private vehicle and guide. We also used lodges and camps that offered spa treatments for the wife. The clients were not interested in Victoria Falls however were interested in ending their trip at a tropical beach location. We suggested Mozambique as it is only 2 hours by air from Johannesburg, South Africa. Countries Visited: South Africa, Botswana, and Mozambique Highlights: day and night wildlife viewing drives in open vehicles, optional walks, optional boat and mekoro (canoe) excursions, tropical beach, snorkeling / scuba diving Trip Outline: DAY 1 JOHANNESBURG, Airport Holiday Inn, bed and breakfast DAYS 2, 3, 4 MOREMI / OKAVANGO, Chitabe Tented Camp, all inclusive with 1 day private vehicle / guide DAYS 5, 6 OKAVANGO DELTA, Little Vumbura Tented Camp, all inclusive with 1 day private vehicle / guide DAYS 7, 8, 9 SAVUTE / LINYANTI, Savuti Tented Camp, all inclusive with 1 day private vehicle / guide DAY 10 JOHANNESBURG, Airport Holiday Inn, bed and breakfast DAYS 11, 12, 13, 14 MOZAMBIQUE, Indigo Bay, all inclusive DAY 15 EN ROUTE, transfer to Johannesburg Airport
Trip Name: “Tailor-Made #3” 21 Days, July 2006, US $28,450 per person x 6 + US $115 per person x 2 (for rafting) Designed for an active family of 6 (with children ages 14, 15, 18 and 19) who wanted nothing short of the best in terms of areas visited, activities and accommodations. The family size made a private Pilatus aircraft with guide professional pilot / guide cost effective, allowed for more flexibility and faster, more comfortable transfers between the various properties and countries. With 6 guests a private vehicle and activities were arranged throughout their trip. At several locations guests had exclusive use of the property. Countries Visited: South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia Highlights: private full day Cape Peninsula tour with penguin viewing and lunch, full day Table Mountain tour (cable car up and down) and township tour including lunch, private dinner at Cape Town residence, day and night wildlife viewing drives in open vehicles, quad bike excursions, private bush dinners, walks, boat and mekoro (canoe) excursions, morning elephant back safari, helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, Livingstone Island Lunch on edge of Victoria Falls, white water rafting for father and son Trip Outline: DAYS 1, 2, 3 CAPE TOWN, Cape Grace Hotel, bed and breakfast in a 3 bed room suite (incredible hotel and great location for children to explore the waterfront on their own or catch a bite to eat) DAYS 4, 5 SOSSUSVLEI, Little Kulala, all inclusive (awesome lodge design, dune climbing and hot air balloon trip possible) DAYS 6, 7 KUNENE, Serra Caféma, all inclusive (super remote but unforgettable location and activities) DAYS 8, 9 ETOSHA, Little Ongava, all inclusive (exclusive use of 3 roomed property with superb wildlife) DAYS 10, 11 OKAVANGO DELTA, Vumbura Plains Tented Camp, all inclusive (great water and land activities) DAYS 12, 13, 14 MOREMI, Little Mombo Camp, all inclusive (superb wildlife and exclusive use of 3 roomed property) DAYS 15, 16, 17 SAVUTE / LINYANTI, Kings Pool Camp, all inclusive (superb wildlife and tented rooms) DAYS 18, 19, 20 VICTORIA FALLS, Sussi Lodge, all inclusive DAY 21 EN ROUTE, transfer to Livingstone Airport |
