DAYS 1, 2, 3 MOREMI / OKAVANGO DELTA From Maun you will fly by light aircraft (included) to Vumbura Tented Camp. Bordering the Moremi Reserve Vumbura Camp offers both water and land activities. Vumbura has both wetland and savanna species of wildlife - red lechwe, waterbuck, hippo, and crocodile along with sable, kudu, wildebeest, and tsessebe which roam the open plains. Herds of elephant and buffalo occur along with the predators - lion, leopard, wild dog, and cheetah. Birding is also spectacular. Guests are accommodated in 8 large walk in luxury tents with en suite toilet and shower facilities and private outdoor shower. There is a plunge pool. Activities include mekoro (canoe) excursions, professionally guided walks, boating and day and night wildlife viewing drives in open 4x4 vehicles. DAYS 4, 5, 6 LINYANTI / SAVUTI On day 4 you will be transferred by light aircraft (included) to Duma Tau Tented Camp. Situated near the confluence of the Linyanti River and Savuti Channel on a private 125,000 hectare concession, this small luxury tented camp is composed of 10 large walk in tents under thatch each with en suite facilities, ceiling fans, and an outdoor shower on the verandah. The main dining area and lounge overlook a plunge pool and beyond an enormous lagoon.

Wildlife abounds with large herds of elephant, zebra, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, sable, roan, eland, giraffe. In addition you are likely to see crocodile, hippo, buffalo. And then there are the predators - lion (the lions in this area have been documented in National Geographic's films), leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena. Birding is also fantastic. Activities include day and night wildlife viewing drives from open 4x4 vehicles, along with boating and nature walks.

DAYS 7, 8 VICTORIA FALLS On day 7 you will be transferred by light aircraft (included in land cost) to Kasane. Upon arrival you will be transferred by road to Victoria Falls and the River Club. Overlooking the Zambezi River upstream from Victoria Falls in Zambia, this small luxury lodge exudes colonial elegance as it takes guests back to a forgotten time. Each of the 10 airy open fronted chalet enjoys en suite facilities and fantastic sunset views over the Zambezi River and Zambezi National Park in Zimbabwe. The main lodge building with its colonial style tin roof, house the elegant dining room, lounge, drawing room, and library. There is also a lovely swimming pool.

Activities include visits to the Mosi oa Tunya National Park (home to white rhino), the historical town of Livingstone, one of the local villages, the local school, the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls, and sundowner boat trips on the river. DAYS 9, 10, 11 HWANGE NATIONAL PARK On day 9 you will be transferred by road to the Victoria Falls Airport and transfer by light aircraft (included) to Hwange National Park. Once the royal hunting grounds of King Lobengula you will follow in Livingstone’s footsteps in exploring this, the largest of all National Parks in Zimbabwe. Wildlife abounds with over 30,000 elephant and more than a hundred other mammal species. You will stay at Makalolo Plains, the premier wildlife and wilderness camp located deep within the park on an exclusive concession. Overlooking a waterhole where wildlife drinks daily, you will be accommodated in large walk in luxury tents. Each tent contains proper beds with duvets, is tastefully decorated, and has en suite facilities with a hot/cold shower, hand crafted fired clay wash basins, and toilet. The camp also has a pool (which elephant love to drink from).

Early morning guided bush walks and game drives in open 4 wheel drive Land Rovers will give you ample opportunity to photograph the endless spectrum of wildlife and terrain. Enormous herds of buffalo and elephant roam the plains along with giraffe, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest, and over 400 species of birds. It is not uncommon to hear lion roaring near camp at night (frequently seen). Adventurous traveler's may opt to overnight in the underground wildlife viewing hide (affectionately known as the "bunker" one night at no extra cost (Professional guide Garth Thompson recently counted over 1,200 animals at the hide in just over 24 hours!). DAYS 12, 13, 14 MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK On day 12 you will be transferred by light aircraft (included) to Mana Pools and Ruckomechi Camp. Ruckomechi Camp is situated on the western side of Mana Pools National Park (a world heritage sight) overlooking the Zambezi River and shaded by a grove of massive acacia trees. Guests are accommodated in 10 luxury thatched chalets with en suite facilities. Ruckomechi has no fence, so the wildlife wanders freely through the camp. The camp is well known for its outstanding variety of wildlife, and its unique bath and loo with a view. Ruckomechi won "Best Safari Camp" in Zimbabwe for four consecutive years.

Victoria Falls - An extra night at The River Club is US $235 per person all inclusive January through March 2004. An extra night at The River Club is US $270 per person all inclusive April through June and November 2004. Jack's Camp, Kalahari - Spend two nights at Jack's Camp. Jack's Camp combines 1920's East African panache with scientific exploration of desert biology and adaptation, stone age archaeology, bushman anthropology and the unique geology of the Makgadikgadi Pans. Guests may observe the only natural wildlife migration that still occurs in southern Africa, enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra that move south from Chobe and Moremi every year after the rains. Huge flocks of flamingoes mass here as well. In the dry season 4 wheel drive quad-bikes are used to explore deep into the dried out and desolate pans. When to travel: Wildlife viewing is best during the period April through October each year.

Departures: This safari departs upon request for one or more travelers. This is not a group safari and accommodations, activities, and total number of days can be altered to suit your needs.

Accommodations: The accommodations on this trip are all first class and very comfortable. All of the rooms have proper beds with mattresses and duvets, en suite toilets, basins and showers with hot and cold running water. Children's rooms are attached to the parents rooms and bathroom facilities are shared. At the River Club a partition is place in the room. Other amenities include mosquito netting, lamps, purified water in carafes, insect repellent, flashlights, wardrobes, and ethnic furnishings.

Age limits: The minimum age on this safari is 8. Children age 8 through 11 traveling with their parents will receive a reduced rate as children will sleep in a their own rooms attached to the parents room. Bathrooms are shared. Families will need to book private wildlife viewing activities so as not to disturb other guests. Children under the age of 8 are allowed if clients book out an entire camp - as many of the lodges and camps in Botswana are very small (3 to 4 rooms) this is sometimes possible at little or no premium. Children 12 years and older pay adult rates. There is no maximum age limit.

Guides: You will enjoy game drives and walks in the company of professionally licensed guides. Botswanan and Zimbabwean guides have had to endure many years of intense training, both academic and in the field. Your safety and comfort are their highest concerns. They are also trained and prepared to respond to medical emergencies.

Luggage: As small aircraft are used for several of the transfers between lodges and camps baggage is strictly limited to 12 kilograms (26 pounds) packed in one soft sided bag per person. Suitcases will not be permitted.

Visas: American passport holders traveling as tourists DO NOT require an entry visa for Botswana. However an entry visa IS REQUIRED for Zambia and Zimbabwe. A Zimbabwean entry visa may be purchased at any port of entry for US $30 cash per person. The Zambian visa fee is waived for guests of the River Club.
