South African Airways Cutting Cape Town Flights / Launches Airbus A350 on New York Route

South African Airways is changing where it flies to save monies / become leaner. Starting February 29, 2020 South African Airways will reduce the number of flights they operate between Johannesburg and Cape Town.

South African Airways will cancel all flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town except for the flights shown in the table below:

JNB – CPT CPT – JNB
SA 313 SA 302
SA 323 SA 326
SA 343 SA 346
SA 377 SA 354

Passengers booked on the aforementioned flights will not be affected. Passengers ticketed on canceled flights will be re-accommodated onto Mango Airlines operated flights under the SA marketing 2000 flight range.

Please note all flights operated by partner airlines, including SA Express, Mango, Airlink and all codeshare partners, including flights operated by their Star Alliance partner airlines are not be affected.

On another front South African Airways has started flying Airbus A350’s on the New York to Johannesburg route. The A350 offers a far superior onboard experience. The airline’s A340s had a dated business class arranged with a 2-2-2 seat layout while the A350s have a 1-2-1 business class offering direct aisle access to all seats.

“I first visited Africa in the late 1980s. I came face to face with a wild elephant, and fell in love with being on safari! I made it my goal to create an African travel company that was all about authentic wildlife experiences. Many years later we are one of the top African travel companies in the Americas – known for arranging custom safaris to East and Southern Africa; personal trips, no cookie cutter stuff.”
