The Botswana Government will ban the use of plastic bags effective November 1, 2018. Visitors to Botswana are therefore advised to not carry plastic bags into the country. The proposed fine will be US $500.

In Africa, Botswana will be following the footsteps of Rwanda and Kenya that have already banned plastic bags. We expect the ban will include ZipLoc and duty free bags as it does in Kenya and Rwanda.
